Dawn on The Horizon

We often ask our clients to share their story, predominantly through a chronological story. Fiona used a different way to express herself, through art and poetry.

We feel as if her painting really does say a thousand words and her accompanying poem sheds light on what we know a lot of our clients and people going through cancer feel.

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For appointments, test and more tests.
For results.
Hoping for the strength to carry on.
Waiting for the new dawn on the horizon

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For diagnosis, operations and more operations.
For discharge from hospital.
Hoping for the strength to carry on.
Waiting for the new dawn on the horizon.

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For the pain to end, swelling to go down.
For scars to heal.
Hoping for the strength to carry on.
Waiting for a new dawn on the horizon.

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For chemotherapy.
For sickness and bone ache to leave.
For a wig fitting.
Hoping for the strength to carry on.
Waiting for a new dawn on the horizon.

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For hair to grow.
For brain fog to leave.
For results of more tests.
Hoping for the strength to carry on.
Waiting for a new dawn on the horizon.

Waiting
Weeks of waiting
For emotions to process the trauma.
For the sword of Damocles to lower.
For a feeling of relief and safety.
For the realisation that I have had the strength to carry on
And every day does bring a new dawn on the horizon.
